Children’s Available Programs:
Virtual Story time: Virtual story time is a program that was made during the pandemic. Follow along with Miss Alyissa’s recorded videos online as she reads a collection of randomly selected stories. These stories involve inspiring messages, fun adventures, educational content, and some are just great bedtime stories.
Battle of the Books: The Belen Public library is recruiting a team to participate in the New Mexico Battle of the Books. The New Mexico Battle of the Books is a reading competition for students in grades 4-8. Children read and meet with their peers throughout the year, then enter a quiz-style battle, with four rounds, in which they are asked about books that they have read from the year’s designated Battle of the Books reading list. The New Mexico Battle of the Books encourages the youth of New Mexico to read high quality literature, have fun, and compete by demonstrating their knowledge of books. Call (505)966-2608 to Register
Girls Who Code: Girls who code is an extracurricular program for students in 3rd- 6th grade. In this program the students learn about game design, game coding, graphic art, animation, and robotics. Girls Who Code will be on Mondays 10:30-11:30 in library To register your child for the girls who code call (505)966-2608
Summer Reading Program: Every Summer the Library has 3 summer reading programs. One for Children, one for Teens and one for Adults. The Summer Reading program is typically in June/July and is an incentive based reading program. For the Children’s Summer Reading Program we usually host fun events and activities they can participate in. We have performers, entertainers and guest speakers visit the library to engage with the kids. Young readers that are registered for the SRP earn prizes based on how much they read. This year Summer Reading will be virtual, however and have no plans for in-person. Call (505)966-2608
