Residents and Businesses of Belen. We wish to advise you that there will be construction work ongoing on Main Street between Reinken Avenue and Picard Avenue, from March 18, 2024 to April 26, 2024 as part of changes required by New Mexico Department of Transportation in order to accommodate traffic impacts from the pending opening of Starbucks. This construction will add new deceleration/acceleration lanes, turning lanes and a new median from Reinken to Picard. Please be advised that upon completion of the changes traffic will no longer be able to cross over Main Street to or from Chavez Avenue. This particular change was initiated due to the misalignment of Chavez Avenue from the East Side of Main Street to the West side which has posed a significant safety threat to vehicle traffic that increases as traffic flow continues to increase. The work being performed will be completed in 2 Phases as shown on the included construction maps.
