Bomb Threat

On Monday July 17, 2023, the Belen Police Department received information of a possible explosive device in the area of Camino Del Llano between Christopher Road and Mesa Road. The area was evacuated and secured, NMSP Explosives Ordnance Disposal Unit (EOD) responded and cleared the scene. No explosive device was located and there were no injuries. One male subject Identified as 63-year-old Mark Mclaughlin was arrested and charged with making a bomb threat.

Auto Burglaries

Between July 17, 2023, and July 19, 2023, there were 4 auto burglaries at Eagle Park and the high school parking lot. These burglaries were of unlocked vehicles. One burglary included the theft of catalytic converters from two city vehicles. Increased directed patrols of these areas have been ordered. Please always ensure that you lock your vehicles and roll up windows.
