Steven Tomita

Steven Tomita is the Planning and Economic Development Manager for Belen as well as the Film Liaison to the New Mexico Film Office. Steve has a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology from New Mexico State with emphasis in Civil and Mechanical Engineering. He brings years of experience in community planning, the establishment of various types of community ordinances and has led successful business development and marketing efforts for numerous companies.

Prior to joining the City of Belen, Steve served as an executive for one of Arizona’s largest land development companies overseeing the planning, design and construction of large master planned communities containing thousands of homes, office complexes and retail centers. He has led planning, entitlement and design teams for residential, retail, office and industrial facilities including aviation and semiconductor in New Mexico, Nevada, Arizona and California.

Steve currently serves on the Belen Economic Development Association, Belen MainStreet Partnership, MRCOG TPTG and TCC Committee, the Rio Metro Regional Transit District Board and the Metro New Mexico Development Alliance.
