Belen Police Department Week in Review July 22-28

Aggravated Battery

Friday, 07/27/2023 at approximately 5:15 PM, Medical Personnel and Police Personnel responded to the 500 block of North 1st Street, in reference to a male subject bleeding heavily from the back of the neck/head area. During the investigation, it was determined that there had been a physical altercation between the victim and a male subject identified as 47-year-old Andrew Gallegos of Belen. Video evidence uncovered throughout the investigation, indicates that Andrew Gallegos Stabbed the victim at least two time. Mr. Gallegos fled the scene prior to the officers’ arrival. The victim was transported to the hospital with life threatening injuries and remains in the hospital in critical condition. A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Andrew Gallegos. The Belen Police Department is asking for the assistance of the public in locating Andrew Gallegos. Anyone with information please contact Detective Joe Rodriguez at 505-966-2680

Crash

07/27/2023 at approximately 10:30 AM, officers responded to a report of a crash on Highway 314 and Lopez Road. Upon arrival officers conducted a crash investigation. The crash involved two vehicles, both with heavy damage. One of the vehicles was a 2014 Dodge pickup truck, there were no reports of serious injuries in this vehicle. The second vehicle was a 2011 Chrysler passenger car. The elderly female driver of this vehicle was transported by air to the hospital and was last reported to be in good condition.

Missing Person/Runaway

On 07/25/2023, Officers took a report of a 14-year-old who had run away from home. Officers later located the juvenile and returned her to her home.

Hit and Run Crash

07/23/2023 officers responded to a hit and run crash in the McDonald’s Parking lot. It was reported that a blue 2014 Toyota Passenger Vehicle was struck by a brown color pickup truck. The truck fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival. No driver description or license plate information was given.
