Aggravated Assault Domestic Violence

On 08/25/2023, officers responded to a report of a Domestic Violence Aggravated Assault in the 400 Block of N. Second Street. Upon investigation, one male subject was arrested and charged with Domestic Violence for threatening his spouse with a knife.

Fight (public affray)

On 08/25/2023, at approximately 9:23 PM, officers were dispatched to the Sonic Drive-In on Main Street, in reference to a fight. Upon arrival, officers found two juvenile females had been involved in a physical altercation. Both juveniles were transported to the Belen Police Department and were released to their parents. Charges were forwarded to Juvenile Probation.

Recovered Stolen Vehicle

On 08/24/2023, officer responded to a call of a suspicious vehicle in the 300 Block of N. Second Street. Upon arrival, officers found a 1998 Dodge truck with a male subject and a female subject asleep in the vehicle. The vehicle had been reported as stolen out of Farmington, NM. The driver, Nicky Meier, was arrested and charged with Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle.

 Narcotics

On 08/21/2023, A student was found to be in possession of and under the influence of Psilocybin mushroom (Shrooms).

On 08/23/203, a student was found to be in possession of and under the influence of Marijuana.

Both incidents happened at the Belen Middle School.

 Overdose

On 08/20/2023 an individual was located at the Dollar General Store at 508 S. Main Street. This individual was unresponsive and was apparently suffering from an overdose. Officers administered Naloxone and the male subject responded. He was then transported to an Albuquerque hospital for treatment.  

Traffic Enforcement

Safer New Mexico grant money has been obtained to pay for additional traffic enforcement initiatives. Several operations have been conducted and several more are planned. The area where these operations are planned is the area of North Main St (Hwy 314), I-25 Bypass and the surrounding area. Please be sure to slow down and drive safe.
