Belen Fire joined up with numerous fire departments from around the Albuquerque area to go over hot air balloon emergencies; including a balloon hitting a power line. Since Belen has the St. Patrick’s Day Balloon Rallye, it was time for our first responders to learn what to do in case of a hot air balloon emergency.
If a member of the public witnesses a hot air balloon emergency please follow the following steps:
- Always remember to stay 100 feet away
- Call 911
- Do not approach the scene until emergency responders arrive.
