Employment applications for positions at the City of Belen are available on line. These forms are available in Adobe format and can be download and printed to be completed by hand or filled out on line and printed. To apply for any of the open positions listed here, follow these instructions:

Position available:

POSITION OPENING:  Code Enforcement Officer
Minimum Wage: $12.50 (Increases with acquired certifications)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

One (1) years working experience related to inspection, law enforcement, land use public administration or related employment.
Knowledge of clerical duties and office equipment, to include typewriter, telephone, calculator, micro-computer and knowledge of software applications (Word, Excel, Access);
Able to compose letters and research documentation as required for Code Enforcement;
Familiarity with Regulations of the City of Belen and Valencia County.
Thorough knowledge and ability to enforce municipal code through normal enforcement principles, practices and methods;
Able to perform work functions with little or limited supervision;
Thorough knowledge of microcomputer software applications, will do own clerical work.
Good oral and written communication skills US Citizen, 18 Yrs. or older

  • High School Graduate or GED
  • Bi-lingual preferred but not required.
  • Not convicted of Felony or Crime of Moral Turpitude
  • Valid New Mexico’s drivers license required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Able to pass physical fitness, written, oral, medical, psychological, background & pre-employment tests;
  • US citizen, 21 Yrs. or older, HS diploma or GED;
  • No criminal hist. or adverse driving record;
  • Must be able to work flexible schedule
  • If uncertified, willing to become certified within one year from date of hire.

POSITION OPENING:  Library Director

Minimum Pay: $17.00 per hour (+ for Master’s Degree)

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited school; and five years related experience and/or training required. 
Grade II Librarian Certification from the State of New Mexico required.
(2) Two years supervisory and administrative experience required.
Prefer: Master's degree (M.L.S.) from an ALA accredited graduate school. and the ability to obtain Professional Librarian Certification from State of New Mexico.
Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of modern library systems and programs
Considerable knowledge of equipment and facilities required in a comprehensive library system
Considerable knowledge of community needs and resources
Considerable knowledge of the Internet, telecommunications, computer networks, workplace software, and library automation applications
Ability to plan, organize, coordinate and implement a comprehensive library system
Ability to read and analyze technical information, write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing with persons of all ages and every economic and social level
Working knowledge of the principles and practices of office management and work organization
Valid New Mexico driver’s license.
Able to successfully complete drug testing
Prefer bilingual (Spanish/English)
