Aragon Overpass; Open

The new Aragon overpass is complete and is now open for traffic. The project which took almost 9 months to complete will provide for easy and safe access on Aragon Road over the railroad tracks. An added benefit of the overpass is the establishment of a "quite zone" in the city's mid section with the closure of the Ross Avenue. and the Barboa Road crossings. That means that engineers will not have to blow their train whistles at each of these crossings, making for a quieter and safer Belen.

The Burlington North Santa Fe Railroad estimates that an average of 100 trains move through Belen each day.

Rail Runner Updates

The crossing at Aragon Road has been outfitted with a four-quadrant crossing gate system that will make the surrounding area eligible to be designated a “quiet zone”.

The Rail Runner will begin it's summer weekend runs from Belen to Bernalillo on Memorial Day weekend. The expanded summer weekend schedule will continue through Labor Day. Visit the Rail Runner site for more details and updated schedule.
