The Belen Alexander Airport, named after former mayor Neil Alexander who was mayor at the time the airport was incorporated in the city.

Built on the west mesa one mile west of I-25, the airport is home
to over 50 aircraft, a skydive club, a propeller overhaul facility,
aerial photographer, and other small aviation
businesses.
Recently a new pilot’s lounge was opened funded by the State
Aviation Division. The lounge features restrooms, internet access,
shower, classroom/conference room, and kitchenette. Future plans
include an AWOS (summer 09), a crosswind runway (13-31), and other
improvements.
There are small and large areas available for development of
aviation related businesses. Rules, regulations and minimum
