The Belen Alexander Airport, named after former mayor Neil Alexander who was mayor at the time the airport idea was conceived.
Built on the west mesa one mile west of I-25, the airport is home
to over 50 aircraft, a skydive club, a propeller overhaul facility,
aerial photographer, and other small aviation
businesses.
Recently a new pilot’s lounge was opened funded by the State
Aviation Division. The lounge features restrooms, internet access,
shower, classroom/conference room, and kitchenette. Future plans
include a crosswind runway within five years.
There are small and large areas available for development of
aviation related businesses. Rules, regulations and minimum
standards are available online under the following link:
This is a live view of the airport, seen at ground level just south of the main runway. There is a different view everyday so visit often.
