Overview

The Information Technology & Telephony department provides a multitude of services to the City of Belen employees and ultimately the citizens of Belen, ranging from desktop computer support to design and implementation of wide area networks.

The focus of the IT department will be to provide end-users with effective and cost-efficient tools through the use of advanced technology. We continually strive to offer state-of-the-art hardware and software applications, which in the end will provide the foundation for e-government and e-commerce services.

Our hardware infrastructure consists mostly of Dell workstations and servers. Data and telephone switching is built on HP ProCurve technology. Our telephone communications is VoIP by ShoreTel over a wide area network comprised of fiber optics at facilities located along Becker Ave. and a wireless backhaul for facilities located on South Main Street and Eagle Park.

As IT Specialist I stand poised and committed to meeting the challenge of moving into the "Information Age" and stand ready to provide the best possible products and services to end-users.

Policies

In the column at the right are quick links that contains a tool to submit requests to solve PC issues as well as network and telephone issues. The last two links are the complete Security Policies and Standards and the abbreviated overview of the Security Policies and Standards. As with all City policies, all employees are expected to become familiar with these polices.

Information Technology Committee

The IT Committee is made up of five staff members from the City of Belen whose mission is to "promote quick accurate cost-effective and courteous access to information and communication technology to best serve the residents and constituents of the City of Belen, and to insure compatibility with external IT systems."

The five voting members and one non-voting member of the committee are as follows:
