Farmers Market

Darleen Aragon, Councilor

Darleen Aragon

Darleen Aragon, now in the real estate business, after 25 years in the travel industry. Aragon also worked for 2 years in marketing at the Valencia County Chamber of Commerce. From there she moved on to hone her skills in sales and marketing working for the Valencia County News Bulletin for 4 years as an advertising representative.

With an affinity for the town of Belen and having been born and raised in Belen and 10th generation “Belenite” Councilor Aragon, wanted to see things change for the better. With no background in politics, Aragon decided that she could be instrumental in making a change so she ran for the first time for City Council.

Councilor Aragon is an active board member with the Belen Chamber of Commerce, helping with the Corazon de Belen Community Garden where all of the fresh produce is donated to the food pantry. The councilor is also the President of the MainStreet Partnership. Along with the board and executive director, the councilor has written grants facilitating revitalization of the MainStreet district area. I am also working with the City of Belen to resurrect the Economic Development Board, with the goal of stimulating the economy in our area.

Councilor Aragon feels that her real estate experience seems to be a great segue into all that She says, “I would like to do to help our community. I truly love our community and hope that my work here will help it grow and prosper.”
